Title: "Report of Driver Survey - Air Brake Adjustment Knowledge"
As part of the ongoing efforts of Operation Air Brake to reduce the number of brake related violations, a survey was conducted in 2003 to establish the level of knowledge of professional truck drivers regarding brake adjustment. A total of 4055 driver surveys were collected. The responses reveal an overwhelming level of misunderstanding about the importance of brake adjustment and correct methods to inspect the brake adjustment on their vehicles.
Of the 4055 respondents, only 15 drivers (0.37%) provided the correct response to those items involving knowledge of brake adjustment.
